Welcome to a Different Kind of Congregation
The First Unitarian Church of Omaha has offered a unique approach to religion emphasizing the freedom to explore various spiritual paths, tolerance for diverse ideas, and the use of reason in religion, since its founding in 1869 . We see the religious community as a place that will not lay down rigid rules, but instead invites you into a dialogue about the meaning of your life and about your relationship with others, with our planet, and with the mystery that lies beyond and within. We explore various religious traditions for their wisdom – not only the Jewish and Christian sources but also the world religions. In addition, we learn from the natural world, science, literature, and the great minds and inspiring individuals of past and present. In a community of young and old,
gay and straight, from various cultural and racial backgrounds, we seek
to make this world a better place for all. Rev. Kate Rohde
